Circle’s 3rd Modern and Contemporary East African Art Auction took place on 3 November 2015 from 6pm at Villa Rosa Kempinski, Nairobi. This year’s auction was the highest grossing to date with over Ksh 19.5 million ($187,000) in sales and over 80% of lots sold.
Previous auctions have transformed the art scene in Kenya, creating enormous interest in East African art regionally and internationally. We have re-introduced the work of the modern artists from the region as well as gaining international recognition for our contemporary artists.
The auction in 2013 grossed Ksh 18.5 million in sales and 2014 raised Ksh 18.8 million with between 87- 90% of the Lots sold.
All buyers must register to bid prior to the sale and are requested to provide photographic proof of ID and if requested, a bank reference.

A buyers’ premium of 15% + VAT (17.4%) is levied on top of the hammer price. The auction will be conducted in Kenyan Shillings. The dollar estimates listed in brackets are used for reference only. The exchange rate used is 110 Ksh to 1US$. This rate is indicative only and the exchange rate will be subject to prevailing market rates at the time of sale.
