Modern and Contemporary East African Art Auction

Tuesday 5 November 2013 at 7.30pm, Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel, Chiromo Road, Nairobi

Circle held the first ever modern and contemporary East African art auction in Nairobi on 5 November 2013.

The 47 lots were selected from across the region; Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Sudan and Ethiopia, both from the primary and secondary market. Some of the art under the hammer had not have been seen in public for decades, there were some hidden treasures that form part of Kenya’s cultural history dating from 1967 to 2013. Over 90% of lots sold at a thrilling evening of art buying which saw over KSH 18.5 million go under the hammer.

The Circle Auction will be an annual event and the directors will be collecting art from the region throughout the year in preparation for the auction in 2014, please contact us if you are interested in selling or acquiring interesting and rare East African art.
